
There is no direct rail link to Lochgilphead and the nearest airports are at Glasgow and Campbeltown.
There is a regular bus service locally provided by West Coast Motors which connects Lochgilphead with other places in the area such as Inveraray, Oban and Tarbert.
Citylink provides a daily coach service from Glasgow (Buchannan Street Bus Station) to Campbeltown via Inveraray and Lochgilphead several times daily and increasing during the summer season to accommodate more people.
You can of course sail by boat from the Clyde up Loch Fyne, however the nearest safe berths are at Ardrishaig or at Ardrishaig basin, the entrance to the Crinan Canal.
The best way to access Lochgilphead and explore the area is by personal transport, namely motorcar. If you have bicycles it is worth bringing them as cycling along the Crinan Canal is a pleasant experience and there are lots of smaller places to explore in the region.
