The Crinan Canal runs from its opening at the north west of Loch Fyne where it stretches through Mid Argyll, through Cairnbaan and on to Crinan where the annual boat festival occurs.
The route is picturesque and has historical interesting links with Thomas Telford, many local people and visitors walk along the canal which can be a pleasant walk, particularly of a still evening, of course the water is deep so it should be done with care.
There are a number of locks along the canal with a small bridge at both Ardrishaig and Cairnbaan, aswell as various picturesque stop off points.
